From a young age, Taryn Daily knew she wanted to be in color guard. She strategically picked playing oboe when she joined the band in sixth grade because she knew they didn’t march with the marching band.
“What really drew me to color guard was the artistic side,” Taryn says. “I am very creative, and color guard allows me to be creative through performing.”
Taryn says she is so excited for this season because color guard will get to compete again. Her favorite memories from color guard involve competitions, and COVID-19 restrictions didn’t allow for the team to travel and compete like years past. This year, however, color guard will be traveling to St. Louis, Missouri and Dayton, Ohio this year.
“My sophomore year we went to St. Louis for a national competition,” Taryn says. “We all crammed into a bus and drove 13 hours overnight, which was an experience in itself. It was one of those things where you bond so much with your teammates and make the best memories.”
Once she graduates from high school, Taryn would like to study kinesiology and eventually go to school for physical therapy.
