After a junior year that started with ineligibility, there is a happy ending for Dragons three-star running back Riley Wormley as he recently announced his commitment to play football at the University of Southern California Trojans.
Wormley overcame a UIL ruling that ruled him ineligible and sidelined him for the first five weeks of the season. In that time, upstart sophomore Davis Penn made the most of the opportunity as the Dragons' lead back and was named offensive newcomer of the year.
However, Wormley impressed in the team's remaining 10 games, rushing for 901 yards and 19 touchdowns and being named Second Team All District. Adding to the allure was the fact that he logged more than 10 yards per carry during the postseason while playing against some of the best competition in the state in teams like Highland Park, Byron Nelson and DeSoto.
In choosing the Trojans, Wormley has turned down 20 other offers from notable schools like Texas, TCU and Oklahoma according to 247Sports.com.
