Carroll Dragons Varsity Baseball defeated Timber Creek after junior pitcher Ben Leeper struck out 11 batters, leading to a 3-1 victory. Carroll is currently 8-1 in district and 22-2 overall.
Led by junior pitcher and Stanford commit Leeper, whose 5-0 record and 1.47 ERA leads the Dragons, the pitching staff has been unstoppable, causing major problems for opposing bats.
With nine returning starters from last year's 34-6-1 (13-1) squad — which was stopped short of a state championship by powerhouse Arlington Martin in the regional semifinals — the 2014 Southlake Carroll baseball team feels there is some unfinished business to attend to.
In addition to three returning All-District performers, the team has plenty of senior leadership from returning starters Barry Casey (1B), Ryan Wiegel (OF), Keaton Duhon (OF) and Garrett Hale (1B).
Last season, the Dragons were 36-6-1 and 13-1, earning the title of District Champions as well as Regional Finalists.
