
The Southlake Carroll boys cross-country team was on fire last Saturday at the Chile Pepper XC Festival in Fayetteville, AK. Winning first place overall, the boys team was led by junior Jude Alvarez, who finished ninth with a time of 15:16. Following behind him was senior Logan Cantu in 16th place, senior Robert Freeman in 21st, freshman Caden Leonard in 22nd and sophomore Blake Bullard in 26th.
The girls also shined in the contest, finishing second overall. Senior Ava Bushaw finished third with a time of 17:30, while junior Sylvia Schwedler finished 12 th with a time of 17:57. Senior Audrey Dunn followed behind in 15th place, along with sophomore Elizabeth Smits in 21st and senior Natalie Ng in 36th.
“This was a great win for our young men today,” Southlake Carroll Head Coach Justin Leonard says via media release. “This event always attracts some of the best high school teams in the region, and coming out on top is a great way to finish our regular season."
Next up for the Dragons is the District 4-6A Championship at Bob Jones Park on Oct. 13. The boys are the 12-time defending district champions, and the girls have won three consecutive district titles.
