Carroll cross-country is state-bound once again.
Earlier this week, the Southlake Carroll cross-country teams traveled to Lubbock to compete in the Region 1-6A championship at Mae Simmons Park. The boys finished first in the meet, while the girls finished second. Logan Cantu led the boys, finishing second overall with a time of 15:21. Behind him, Blake Bullard, Jude Alvarez, Robert Freeman, Caden Leonard, Zach Troutman and Tyler Ortiz rounded out the male competitors.
Meanwhile, Ava Bushaw finished second on the girls' side with a time of 17:25. Following up behind her were Sylvia Schwedler, Audrey Dunn, Elizabeth Smits, Sarayu Veluri, Natalie Ng and Gabriella Tesoriero.
“I’m really proud of our young men and women,” head coach Justin Leonard says via media release. “This is always such a tough region, and our runners rose to the challenge."
Carroll cross-country now heads to the 6A state championship, which will be held on Nov. 5 in Round Rock. This marks the 26th consecutive year the girls have qualified for state and the 13th straight year for the boys, who will be defending their back-to-back state championship titles.
