After nine years, Carroll girls basketball coach and girls athletic coordinator Teri Morrison is moving on.
In 2016, we published an article in which Morrison said: “Our No. 1 goal is to play every game and leave it on the floor.” Leading the Lady Dragons to more than 200 wins and seven playoffs appearances under her belt, Morrison has done just that.
Morrison has been a head coach for 29 years. Prior to arriving in Southlake, she was the head coach at Mesquite Poteet, Royce City and Waco Midway. No stranger to success, Morrison took the Lady Panthers of Waco Midway to the 4A State Championships in 2009, where they earned a state title.
Her job at Carroll as girls athletic coordinator is also not her first experience in that role. She held a similar position as athletic director at Royce City and was the girl's coordinator at Poteet High School for 16 years. Morrison lives and breathes high school athletics, and her winning records show for it. So do her honors: She has been the District Coach of the Year 21 times, including 1991, 1993-98, 2000-05 and 2007-15.
Multiple Lady Dragons who trained under Morrison have continued on to play collegiate basketball, including Christie Groh, Deborah Chandler, Kami Mickens, Gretchen Morrison, Rebecca Gordon, Kennedy Leonard, Anna Hurlburt and more.
