The No. 2-ranked wrestler in the state became No. 1 last weekend during the UIL wrestling state championships.
On Saturday, Feb. 17, Dragon sophomore Dylan Ota advanced to the UIL state tournament in Cypress, Texas, alongside Tyson and Boede Gibson, Carson Ota, Xavier Flanagan, Haley Maxwell and Cora Hayes. Previously advancing to the state tournament as a freshman last year, Dylan helped the boys secure their 10th consecutive district championship earlier this month and advanced to regionals alongside 17 other Dragons.
Competing across four matches, Dylan defeated opponents from Katy Paetow, Klein and Cole Park before defeating state runner-up Jackson Shipley from Dripping Springs 6-3.
