Former Dragon and current Longhorn swimmer Jonathan Roberts competed in San Antonio, Aug. 6 - 10, for the U.S. Nationals competition.
Starting out on Day 1, Roberts placed 6th in his heat in the 400m Freestyle (3:51.23). He went on to place 8th in the A group finals that day, with a final time of 3:58.46. The next day, he competed in the 200m Freestyle, ranking 16th in his heat (1:50.05), and again ranking 8th in the finals (group B), with a final time of 1:51.30.
Roberts' best time in the 200m Freestyle is 1:34.54. He swam that on Feb. 25 at the 2015 Big12 Championships in Austin.
He competed on Day 5 on Monday in the 200m Backstroke, but did not participate in the finals. In 2014, Roberts placed 8th in the 200m BK. He was a member of the 2013-2014 USA Swimming Junior National Team, and he was also voted as one of two team captains. He also swam for the North Texas Nadadores with teammate, Brett Ringgold.
Roberts was a member of the 2013-2014 USA Swimming Junior National Team, as well as the team’s co-captain. Roberts also competed in the 2012 US Olympic Trials.
Colleyville native Katie Meili did well at the competition, placing first in the 100m Breaststroke (1:06.56 in the qualifier, 1:06.55 in the finals, group A). In the 50m Freestyle, Meili placed 5th in final group B (25.58).
