Southlake resident Brendan O'Reilly was invited by the NHL Dallas Stars to attend the club's 2015 Development Camp which runs from Tuesday, July 7 to Saturday, July 11, at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Frisco, according to a release sent in by Jim O'Reilly.
Brendan is a May 2015 graduate of Carroll Senior High School. He is the youngest player invited to the Dallas Stars annual camp.
The camp will feature 34 players, including 14 forwards, 14 defensemen and six goaltenders, as well as three players selected by the Stars at the 2015 NHL Draft, and 21 players listed as "Prospects In The System."
A Southlake resident for the past 16 years, Brendan began playing hockey with the Dallas Stars house league program at the age of 4. He's also played on teams that won Tier 1 USA Hockey State Championships, USA Hockey Regional Championships, and advanced to play in the USA Hockey National Championships.
Last summer Brendan was also selected to attend the USA Hockey's Boys Select 17 Player National Development Camp in Amherst, N.Y. This past September and November, the NHL's Central Scouting Service placed Brendan on their Players To Watch List Of The Top NHL Draft-Eligible Prospects.
This past hockey season, Brendan played hockey with the WHL Tri-City Americans. Two years ago, Brendan became the youngest defenseman from Texas to be called up and play in his first regular season WHL game.
Brendan was nominated for the 2015 WHL Scholastic Player of the Year – Daryl K. (Doc) Seaman Memorial Trophy for having a 4.0 GPA while playing with the WHL Tri-City Americans.
This past May, Brendan's younger brother, Ryan O'Reilly who just completed his Freshman year at Carroll High School, was drafted into the WHL by the Tri-City Americans. Ryan was also selected to attend the USA Hockey's Boys Select Player National Development Camp in Amherst starting on July 15.
