Trophy Club, Texas – Growing up in San Angelo, Andy Sedino, owner of Meat U Anywhere, remembers one of his first lessons in giving. Each year, a local restaurant opened its doors to feed those in need for Thanksgiving. Andy hoped that one day, he too, could open his heart and restaurant to serve others during the holiday season. Thanksgiving, November 23, 2017, at Meat U Anywhere’s Trophy Club location, Andy Sedino is serving local non-profit, Metroport Meals On Wheels’ participants and their families, a Thanksgiving meal to remember. It is estimated that over 726,155 seniors in Texas are struggling with hunger, and 28% of seniors 65+ years old experience isolation. Andy’s dream of an annual Thanksgiving meal as a Meat U Anywhere tradition is in its second year, and it is an inspiration for the spirit of giving in others and our community. Metroport Meals On Wheels (MMOW), founded in 1980, is a grassroots organization that serves as an advocate for elderly or chronically ill individuals in northeast Tarrant, southern Denton, and eastern Wise counties. MMOW has provided over a million meals to seniors in northeast Tarrant, Wise and Denton Counties since 1980 and serves home-delivered and senior center meals to more than 1,000 seniors throughout the region. Thanks to individual and corporate donations, fundraising events and a loyal corps of over 500 volunteers, MMOW responds quickly to local needs and does not receive any federal or state funding. MMOW epitomizes the spirit of “neighbors helping neighbors” and provides services to those in need, regardless of age or ability to pay. For more information or to volunteer, please contact the MMOW office at 817-491-1141 or visit the website at www.MetroportMOW.org.
