PediaPlex Halloween Event
PediaPlex Hosts Sensory Friendly Indoor Halloween Event on Thursday, October 24 from 6:30-8:30 pm at 2425 E. Southlake Blvd, Southlake, Texas.
PediaPlex will open its doors for a free community Halloween party to support families and children with autism and special needs.
The bright lights and noises, outdoor experiences, social interaction, and cute costumes of Halloween are fun for most children. But for kids with autism and other development delays this can cause extreme discomfort and be downright painful.
A safe and fun Halloween for families whose children have special needs is a priority for PediaPlex, a Southlake child development and pediatric therapy center. On Thursday, October 24, 2019 the staff will sponsor a free Halloween event, open to the public, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The clinic’s speech, occupational and ABA therapists will be dressed in costumes while families trick-or-treat through the not-so-spooky offices.
The indoor trick-or-treat event will feature treats for children and social interaction in an environment that caters to the needs of children with autism. Children with autism sometimes react to a departure from usual routine or become upset by overstimulation. Situations with crowds of people also can be frightening. For this reason, the event will provide safe boundaries to help children stay calm and enjoy the fun and alleviate parents’ worry about their children wandering.
"We love serving the community with this free event,” said Sonia Kirkpatrick, CEO and founder of PediaPlex. “We enjoy seeing all of our princesses, superheroes and fury creatures at this very special event! Our therapists enjoy having a door-decorating contest and joining in with the kids in dressing up in their favorite costumes. We invite families and siblings in our community to join us for this Halloween party!”
Information about the free community event is available by calling (817) 442-0222 or visiting PediaPlex.net.
