Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes
Have you ever wished you could see Thor, Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Hulk and the Guardians of the Galaxy in real life? Now you can as these and other Marvel characters face off in an epic battle against Loki in the action-packed “Marvel Universe Live!" at American Airlines Center this weekend! Audiences will be up close to more than 25 Marvel characters during Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows as they swing, smash, fly and work together to defeat evil. If you didn't already believe in superheroes, you will after seeing this show complete with aerialists, shooting webs, levitation and other out-of-this-world superpowers!
Texas Live Grand Opening Weekend
The Texas Rangers, The Cordish Companies and the City of Arlington have announced a grand opening celebration for the highly anticipated Texas Live! From Thursday to Sunday, locals can come out to enjoy the 200,000 square feet, $250 million dining, entertainment and hospitality district in Arlington. While there are lots of activities happening all weekend long, your kids will love coming out to their Sunday family fun day. There will be live entertainment, arts and crafts, moonwalks, face painters, jugglers, sports games and much more. And if you RSVP in advance, you can snag a free bag of popcorn to snack on throughout the day.
Scrappy Presents Dog Daze of Summer
The dog days of summer are in full swing, and locals can celebrate that on Saturday by heading out to the Grand Prairie Farmers Market. They will host Scrappy Presents Dog Daze of Summer on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for your furry friends who want to get out and cool off in the water. Pups are invited to play in the splash zone dog park, get their picture taken in an outdoor photo booth and meet the Grand Prairie Parks Art and Recreation Department's own Scrappy, a Prairie Paws Rescue. It's sure to be a paw-sitively great time.
Family Movie Fun at Central Library
For a great movie and a family-friendly good time, head over to Downtown Fort Worth to enjoy Family Movie Fun at Central Library. The local library will show a free feature-length movie, and this Saturday they are presenting “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” Your kids will love seeing the classic tale, and you may get them excited about reading by being in such a beautiful location. Plus, it's a great way to get out of the heat and enjoy some brisk air conditioning.
Gateway Church Presents “Mary Poppins” The Broadway Musical
To ring in the summer, Gateway Church will present the beloved “Mary Poppins” Broadway musical until this Sunday. Your kids will love watching this Disney classic come to life in a whole new way. While the church has stated the show may not be ideal for children under the age of six because of the length and “one potentially frightening scene,” your older kids will love the charms of the script and accompanying music. For the best seats in the house, try to get in one of the first five rows or in the risers. Grab your tickets before they sell out!
