While the mild weather of this week will be gone come the weekend, don’t let that stop you from going out and spending some time with your family. This weekend has a variety of family-friendly events that will sure to be fun.
North Richland Hills Centre Dive-in Movie
If your family is dreaming of warmer weather, give them a taste of summer with a dive-in movie at the North Richland Hills Centre. The NRH Centre is showing 'Incredibles 2' on February 8 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. while attendees can float in their pool after eating pizza and ice cream provided by the venue (while supplies last.) The NRH Centre will even provide inner tubes and swimming noodles on a first come, first serve basis. Tickets are $10 a person or $25 for a family of four.
Get in the Valentine’s Day spirit by taking your child to a hearts cupcake workshop at Taste Buds Kitchen in Southlake. On February 9, from 9 to 10 a.m., kids will learn how to make red velvet cupcakes with fondant heart toppers. This workshop is open to kids ages 2-8 and costs $28 per child with one caregiver.
Work out and be rewarded at the same time at this year’s Allstate Hot Chocolate 15K/5K. This event, taking place on February 9 starting at 6:00 a.m., will give participants a free goodie bag that comes with a zip-up hoodie in black or merlot. The race will have hot chocolate stations along the course and all 15K finishers will receive a Hot Chocolate medal.
Celebrate the Year of the Pig with the 20th annual Chinese New Year Festival at the NorthPark Center in Dallas. On February 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., families can experience a variety of dances, music and art activities for kids. This event is open to children of all ages and registration is free.
If you’d prefer to stay in town this weekend, the Sweetheart Dance will be happening on February 9 at Legends Hall at the Marq Southlake. This year’s theme is “Sweets for my Sweet” and from either 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., attendees can enjoy a night of dancing, activities and delicious food. Online pre-registration is required for every child and adult attending this event, and children under 2 are free.
