As a fan of the Real Housewives of Dallas, I often find myself looking for hidden Easter eggs while watching the show's B-roll of the Big D. Whether it is clips of the iconic Reunion Tower or the area’s most beautiful highways, I eagerly await to see what area of the Metroplex will be featured next.
So when Bedford's Moonlight Cakes announced one of their creations would be gracing the Bravo screen, I needed to know more.

Fans of the show may remember the August 15 premier’s party: D’Andra Simmons and Jeremy Lock’s four-year anniversary celebration. The extravagant soiree was full of beautiful dresses, lots of cocktails and a stunning cake made by Moonlight Cakes owner Susan Holcomb.
The six-tiered cake, decorated in black, white and gold designs, is made up of salted caramel and chocolate peanut butter flavors. Its shimmery and edible accents truly feel like a fit for the lavish Dallas couple.
But this wasn’t her or the bakery’s first venture into reality television. Moonlight Cakes was also featured last year in the Cooking Channel’s Cake Hunters. There they competed to create a wedding cake for Dallas couple Jay Roecker and Jay Michaels. While they were not the chosen cake, they made great contacts that lead to other ventures.
“We really got to know the Jays very well and developed a great friendship with them,” Susan says. “They were well connected in Dallas. They actually connected us to D’Andra.”
After hearing about their cakes, D’Andra and Jeremy came into Moonlight Cakes to talk about creating something for their upcoming party. The end result is full of detail – from the edible flowers to individually painted gold bees to the Edgar Allan Poe quote, “We loved with a love that was more than love” written on the bottom.
And while we only saw a snippet of the cake in the first episode, the second episode – that picks up at the party – may make room for another feature. But it’s not the only project Susan took on for the Real Housewives of Dallas ladies this season.
Fellow cast member Stephanie Hollman will also be sporting Susan’s desserts at her baby shower for Brandi Redmond in a later episode. So be on the lookout for this mid-cities cake maven getting some national acclaim. Or maybe order one of the cakes for yourself if you want to live life like a real housewife.
