Central Market
Everything is bigger in the Lone Star State – including flavor. Now locals can embrace all things native to the state at Central Market’s Big Tastes of Texas event from May 15 to 28.
The Texas born and based brand will fill their stores, including their Southlake locations, with products from Texas farmers, growers and entrepreneurs. Produce options will include fresh Texas blueberries, Crimini mushrooms, off-the-vine tomatoes, vine-ripe honeydew, sweet onions and much more.
While a majority of Texas may be landlocked, Texas seafood does make up a large portion of the state’s cuisine. So fruits of the sea like Jeri’s Oysters; Galveston Shrimp Company’s U-15 shrimp; Katie’s Seafood catches like red snapper, groper, flounder and blue crab; Ekstrom Farms’ cooper shoals red drum and silver streak striped bass; and Philly Seafood’s fresh caught finds will also be available in the store.
And you can’t talk Texas food without talking about beef, so 44 Farms Premium Angus steaks, Texas Pasture-raised grass-fed lamb and Texas Quail Farms products will also be available. For sweeter options, locals can try Central Market’s three new dessert options: Lady Bird Johnson Lemon Bundt Cake, German Chocolate Brownies and Fruit Kolaches.
Locals can wash it all down with some Texan-approved libations. Local beers from Four Corners Brewing Co., Armadillo Ale Works, Revolver, Lakewood and Shiner will fill their shelves. And did you know Texas has more than 4,5000 acres sunder vine? Texan vineyards like Mesina Hof, Becker Vineyards and Bending Branch Winery will have bottles ready to help quench your thirst.
All that and much more will be available for purchase during this culinary celebration. To learn about a few Texan dishes and pick up a few skills along the way, sign up for one of their themed cooking classes. Whether you are interested in learning about Texas seafood from the Gulf, creating your own Czech Kolaches or cooking your own Lone Star Brunch, there is an array of classes at the Southlake location to get excited about.
So swing by to get a look at all of these Texan foodie favorites. You’re sure to walk out with something local and delicious.
