In the hunt for the best fair food, the Texas State Fair has announced its 10 Big Tex Choice Award finalists for 2023.
The savory finalists include Deep Fried Cheesy Crab Tater Bites, Deep Fried Pho, Turkey Ribs, Loaded Fries Pizza and an Ox’Cellent Soul Roll filled with savory beef oxtails, potato chunks and smoked gouda and mozzarella. This year’s sweet finalists include Bourbon Banana Caramel Sopapillas, a Biscoff Delight New York-style cheesecake, Fernie’s Fried Cherry Pie In The Sky tart, a Sweet Encanto fruit wafer and a Trail-Ade made with lemonade and summer fruits.
Three Big Tex Choice Award winners will be crowned live on Aug. 27 for “Best Taste — Savory,” “Best Taste — Sweet” and “Most Creative.” You can try all of these foods and more at the state fair during its run from Sept. 29 to Oct. 22.
