Dust your boots off and ready your appetite, the cowboy chef is back in Southlake.
A little over a month ago, MasterChef contestant Mike Newton provided a memorable night of food and fun during a MasterChef watch party at Starpower. Back then, he was in the top 17 on season 8 of the American competitive reality TV series. Now, he is riding high in the top 12, though the last few episodes have made him and his fans sweat a bit. Challenges aside, the MasterChef is back in town tonight at Starpower from 5 to 9:30 p.m. for watch party No. 12.
If you were at the last watch party in Southlake, you know this is not an event to miss. Newton served up expertly cooked steak alongside Southlake mayor Laura Hill. The two cut up the entire time, with Hill repeatedly stating that she does not normally cook. However, the crowd consensus was that her steak was the best.
The details surrounding tonight's event have been cryptic at best. The Facebook event description states that there will be a “special guest of honor” that even Newton doesn't know about.
“This is not one you'll want to miss,” says Jeff Tucker, Newton's manager. “We aren't able to say too much, but I would try my hardest to make it to this one.”
Newton is a North Texas native and lives about 90 miles west of Southlake. He owns and operates a ranch in Lipan, but is very familiar with the Southlake area as he does real estate work here. Growing up, he lived in Irving, and he and his wife have lived in Grapevine and Fort Worth. He has roots all over, and he doesn't hesitate to represent his Texas heritage on MasterChef, hence the ever-present black cowboy hat.
The event is free and open to the public. Come out and enjoy episode 11 on a multitude of screens at Starpower. The watch party has free food, drinks, sodas and beer while supplies last.
