Wine, craft beer, finebrfood and philanthropy come together at the 13th Annual WineDiscoverybrhosted by the Metroport, Southlake and Keller Rotary Clubs. Since itsbrinception, the event has raised more than $300,000 for local youth scholarshipsbrand community service projects. This year's event kicks off April 29 at 7 p.m.brat The Marq.
Guests will enjoybrunlimited samples of 24 Texas, domestic and international wines—including red,brwhite, port and sparkling—from five local wineries and distributors: Bear CreekbrSpirits & Wine in Colleyville; El Wine Chateau in Keller; Three Vino inbrRoanoke; and Off the Vine and Wine Fusion in Grapevine. In addition,brexperts will be on hand to provide details of grapes, growers and vintages.
“Buying wine is abrchallenge, so WineDiscovery is all about tasting new wines and finding newbrfavorites that are affordable,” said event chair Mary MoeGeorgia via pressbrrelease. “Lesser-known Texas, domestic and international wineries are featured,brselected by experts to be exceptional values. We bet favorite selections arebrnot the most expensive!”
New this year, the eventbrwill also feature craft beer tastings from two breweries. Ballast Point BrewingbrCompany will offer samples of its specialty ales in the beer cave, and ShannonbrBrewing Company will serve outdoors from the DeVivo Brothers Eatery fire enginebrfood truck.
A wine and craft beerbrtasting is not complete without food, and this year's culinary sponsors offerbrfare to complement all varietals. The majority of proceedsbrfrom WineDiscovery are awarded as scholarships to graduating seniors in CarrollbrISD, Keller ISD, Northwest ISD, Westlake, Christhaven and Tarrant CountybrCollege. Remaining proceeds are used for local grants to nonprofits such as thebrRoanoke Food Pantry; Metroport Meals on Wheels; Victory Therapy Center tobrsupport equine assisted physical therapy; and Gallant Few to prevent veteranbrisolation, as well as humanitarian projects in Nicaragua, Mexico and Cuba.
