A beloved Watauga eatery is coming to Colleyville. Chef Point, known for its original unorthodox location – inside a Conoco gas station, is expanding into a more fine dining space.
For those who have followed Chef Point since owners’ chef Franson Nwaeze and his wife Paula Merrell Nwaeze’s origin story, expect the same high-quality dishes and rich flavors. But the new restaurant provides a whole new look compared to the Watauga location.
“The Colleyville location has a whole different vibe, the restaurant is bright and airy and full of plants,” Paula says.
Chef Point Watauga is found within a gas station, so guests can come fill up while enjoying quality dishes. That unique story got national attention, including everything from a feature in an episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Drives” and a front-page story in “The New York Times.” That attention has brought out an array of interested food lovers.
“Having been featured on the Food Network multiple times, the front page of ‘The New York Times,’ and many ther national outlets - foodies come from around the world to taste Chef Fransons' American/Italian and African cuisine,” Paula says.
The menu provides an array of options, including their top-selling item at their Watauga location – the Blackened Stuffed Pork Chop. The recipe came from a diner who used to order the dish at another restaurant, so after explaining the ingredients to the chef, he whipped it up and put it on the menu.
“He described the dish for chef; he made it for the guest; and five years later that same dish was featured on ‘Diners, Drive-Ins and Drives’ with Guy Feri and has been our top-selling dish every since,” Paula says.
Chef Point officially opened to the public after Labor Day at 5220 Hwy 121 and is now taking reservations for those who are interested in trying their creations.
