A new modern South African steakhouse opened in Dallas in late January.
Located inside the former Oak restaurant in the Design District, Wits Steakhouse is a new restaurant that blends traditional steakhouse flavors and South African-inspired dishes. The menu’s offerings range from traditional cuts such as prime filet and tomahawk steak to unique entrees such as lobster dumplings, peri peri prawns, miso cod, and much more.
“When I was looking for inspiration, I went back to my family roots,” owner Richard Ellman says via press release. “My parents were also born and raised in South Africa, so the history runs deep within my background.”
With 4,000 square feet of space, Wits comfortable serves over 80 diners, as well as an additional 40 diners in the private area, chef’s table and patio.
“We hope to exceed expectations with our steaks and seafood by offering guests a different experience than they might expect,” Richard says via press release. “Because we are not the typical Texas steakhouse, we are taking a chance and embracing what sets us apart.”
Wits is open now at 1628 Oak Lawn Ave., Suite 110. To learn more about the new steakhouse, visit WitsSteakhouse.com.
