Some dishes just scream comfort food, like the hot sandwiches and fries coming out at the chef-driven fast food joint, Top Round. The California-based chain has moved to Texas and officially opened up shop in Irving’s Toyota Music Factory.
Their extended menu is known for their sandwiches. Whether you want roast beef, fried chicken or grilled cheese stacks, they're available and made fresh to order at Top Round. And while their classics are just top notch, they also offer specialty creations like their Beef on Weck Sandwich, with atomic horseradish and caraway served on a sea salt bun, and their Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, with lettuce, tomato, blue cheese and buffalo sauce served on a sesame bun.
Jason Napolitan, the Dallas area owner, knew that the area would go nuts for these comfort-food classics.
“I was a customer first at the Top Round in Los Angeles,” Napolitan says. “I remember taking my first bite and saying, ‘Why do we not have this in Texas?' I was sad that my friends and family couldn't come to this restaurant and hang out and have a beer with me, so I brought one to them.”
This quick-service restaurant elevates fast food with their premium ingredients. Their roast beef sandwiches are served with USDA Choice Top Rounds and topped with fresh au jus. Their fries, that come curly, cheesy or dirty – served with gravy, Provel cheese, caramelized onions and Round Sauce, are made with fresh Idaho Potatoes.
These scrumptious dishes aren't just tasty. They are also thoughtfully cooked and presented with freshness in mind.
Their roast beef sandwiches are crafted with meat that's been roasted for up to 10 hours in-house and is sliced to order. Their chicken sandwiches include all-natural meat that is brined in pickle juice and buttermilk, double battered and fried to order. Their fries are hand-cut and placed in 100 percent beef fat until they are crisp up to perfection. And their custard, made without preservatives, is whipped up fresh every single day.
And when you walk into Top Round, you will feel the sense of family that comes alongside each of their combos.
“My business is family-owned and operated. We take pride that our employees are considered our family and we hope the customer feels this way too,” Napolitan says. “Top Round is a fun environment and family friendly. We want people, no matter their background, to come to Top Round and enjoy the music, the food, and the atmosphere.”
So for those that like their roast beef slow cooked and their fries topped with fresh “cheese whiz,” come down to Top Round.
