You've been hit with a double whammy today Southlake residents. Not only has your spring break ended on a wet note, it also happens to be Friday the 13th. If you are like most Americans though, you really don't consider today unlucky, unless you happened to leave your umbrella at home.
According to a Harris Poll, only 14 percent of Americans believe that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day, and Friday or not, just 12 percent think the number 13 itself is unlucky. Here are some other interesting superstition statistics to get you thinking on this dreary Friday afternoon.
Did you stop to check your hair in the mirror this morning, just knowing it was frizzy from the rainy weather? Hopefully you weren't that appalled with your appearance that you knocked it off the wall, but…only 14 percent of U.S. adults believe breaking a mirror brings seven years bad luck.
Have you been jumping over those puddles on the sidewalk to avoid getting your sandals soaked (wasn't it supposed to be sunny and warm this week)? At any rate, there's no time to think about where you'll land! It's a good thing only 7 percent of Americans believe stepping on a crack is bad luck.

Not that you would be walking around in this mess, but in case you did have to park a little ways from the restaurant, you’ll be happy to know if there is one involved, just 20 percent of Americans believe it’s unlucky to walk under a ladder.
And finally, as mentioned earlier, you never want to forget your umbrella on a day like today, but if you're in a rush to prepare to venture forth do you really want to chance it? Most Americans give you the go-ahead. Only 14 percent believe opening an umbrella indoors is bad luck.
