Last month, 17brSouthlake members of the Cruise Holidays Travel Club returned from a photobrsafari in East Africa. On their first day in Nairobi, they participated inbrvoluntourism — a fast-growing addition to global travel where participantsbrvolunteer a small portion of their travel itinerary to a charitable cause —brwith the orphanage at the Kenya Children’s Home.
The Southlakebrgroup visited every one of the dozen on-site homes accommodating as many as 200 childrenbrand their housemothers. As a result, Cruise Holidays raised close to $2,000brthat will help support the orphaned boys and girls, ages 0 to 9.
According to Mike Currie, the Cruise Holidays of Southlakebrpresident, although the group did their best to give back, they declared thebrreal angels in disguise were the children they were there to help.
