Disney Theatrical Productions under the direction of Thomas Schumacher presents Aladdin, the US tour, music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, book and additional lyrics by Chad Beguelin: Clinton Greenspan (Aladdin), Michael James Scott (Genie), (Jasmine), (Sultan) directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw
A whole new world will come to life when Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie and several others make their way from Agrabah to the Lone Star state later this month, and they’re bringing their love of Texas country music with them.
Based on the 1992 Walt Disney film of the same name, “Aladdin” tells the story of a street urchin who goes from rags to riches after he comes into possession of a magic lamp that grants him three wishes. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw (“The Book of Mormon”, “Something Rotten!”) the broadway production for “Aladdin” hits the Music Hall at Fair Park on Thursday, June 6 and runs through until Sunday, June 23.
However, in addition to their regular production schedule, the cast for Aladdin will hold a benefit concert for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, one of the nations leading nonprofits that have raised more than $225 million for individuals with AIDS, according to a news release. The show is called “To Texas, From Agrabah, With Love” and will feature cast members singing some of the best hits from their favorite Texas Country artists.
“To Texas, from Agrabah, With Love” will be 9 p.m. Monday, June 17 at the Round Up Saloon, located at 3912 Cedar Springs Road, Dallas, TX 75219. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $20 the night of the event.
