Apex Art League Shines Light On Shoes

The Apex Art League is hosting a special free event for Southlake shoe lovers and history buffs alike. A film entitled, “Salvatore Shoemaker of Dreams” will be screened at The Marq at Bicentennial Park on June 29.  As part of the Apex Art League’s Cinema d’ Arte, the documentary will explore how the legendary Italian fashion icon Salvatore Ferragamo brought European style to Hollywood and the world.

Born in 1898 as the 11th of 14 children to a poor family in the Campania region of Italy, Salvatore Ferragamo made his first pair of shoes for himself at the age of 9. What followed has become a legendary tale of an immigrant’s rise to become one of the preeminent fashion influencers in the world.
