The Texas Ice Cream truck is rolling into Southlake this week, and they’ll be serving free root beer floats courtesy of the Champions Club.
Champions Club at the Marq is holding a special pop-event on Tuesday, August 6. The Texas Ice Cream Truck will be serving free root beer floats 3-6 p.m. at 285 Shady Oaks Drive in honor of National Root Beer Float Day, and will also show a special screening of DreamWorks Animation’s newest Netflix show “Spirit Riding Free."
“The Netflix and DreamWorks Studio team approached us especially about 'Spirit Riding Free,'” community services special operations manager Cassie Tucker says. “The show is popular among youth and toddlers, and Champions Club is a family destination where youth and toddlers frequent. It was a natural fit.”
Set in the small town of Miradero, “Spirit Riding Free” is about a 12-year-old girl named Lucky who encounters a beautiful mustang horse named Spirit. After setting him free from wranglers who want to break him in, Lucky rides with him and goes on several adventures together throughout the west. The show is based on DreamWorks’ 2002 animated feature “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron,” which was also nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards but lost to Hayao Miyazaki’s "Spirited Away."
In addition to the show and the ice-cold root beer floats, DreamWorks will be at the event to distribute additional "Spirit Riding Free" promotional materials as well. You can contact the club at 817.748.8955 if you have any questions.
