Magik Theatre
Over 100 years of Texas tales featuring heroism and independence are coming to the Southlake Public Library this week, and residents are invited to come and experience the history of the Lone Star State with them.
The Magik Theatre is a performance troupe that has served over 2.5 million viewers in the last 25 years. Originally a group of six actors, founder Richard Rosen created Magik Theatre to educate younger generations through the power of performance and acting. While they have regular shows in their San Antonio theater throughout the year such as Eric Carle’s “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” they also have mobile shows that they take to-go on their On The Road tours – and one of their stops is in Southlake.
For more than 100 years, Texas was a Spanish colony before it declared its independence from Mexico after the Battle of the Alamo in 1836. That’s just one of several Texas stories covered in this one-hour epic that also includes narratives like the legend of the bluebonnets, the adventures of Pecos Bill and, of course, Davey Crockett and his chronicles from the wild frontier.
"The Kingdom of Texas" show is open and free to the public. It starts at 2 p.m. on Tuesday on the third floor of the Southlake Public Library. Come on out to the show, and experience the Texas Magik for yourself.
