If your family loves Disney, there is not one, but two family-friendly Disney events happening this weekend that make great outings. This weekend also has events if you want to stay closer to Southlake like a galaxy donuts workshop or a production of Mary Poppins Jr.
The Little Mermaid - Movie in Concert
This weekend, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra will be doing "The Little Mermaid - Live in Concert". There are three shows for this event - one on February 22 and 23 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and one on February 24 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The orchestra will play the music from the Disney movie "The Little Mermaid" while it plays on the big screen. And before Saturday night's show, there will be Disney-themed karaoke from 6 to 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on the Orchestra's website.
Ratatouille - Kids Movie Saturday
This Saturday, Lava Cantina in The Colony will be showing "Ratatouille" as part of its Kids Movie Saturday. This event will be from 1 to 3 p.m., and it is free to attend. Kids meals will be $2 off during the movie and there will a crafts and desserts table for kids. Children are also invited to dress like a chef. So, if you want to eat, watch a movie and do some arts & crafts, head out to Lava Catina in The Colony this Saturday.
In the second Disney event happening this weekend, the Trinity United Methodist Church in Denton is hosting a "Disney in Concert" event from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 23. This event will be showing casing all your favorite Disney music for free and open to everyone.
If you want to get your exercise in this weekend, consider signing up for this weekend’s Cowtown Marathon. This event will be happening on February 23 or February 24, depending on the race you sign up for and has races from a 5K to a half or full marathon. All races will start and end at the Will Rogers Memorial Center, which will also be hosting The Cowtown Health and Fitness Expo that people can attend for free.
Sensory Friendly Day at the Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park
If you have a child or children that benefit from sensory-friendly environments, this is a perfect event to attend this week. On Sunday, February 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Children's Aquarium at Fair Park will be having a sensory-friendly day. This event will include sound adjustments and quiet zones so children can enjoy themselves. There will also be social stories and parent tips before this event begins. Tickets can be purchased at the Aquarium's website and are $4 for both children and adults.
