As Southlake enters into its last weekend for August, families are looking for fun ways to cap off the weekend as they head into the fall. Whether you go to a concert, pet cute puppies or play at the park, there’s plenty to do with your family this weekend.
Live music is back in Southlake! Grab your blanket or lawn chair and head out to the Aria Amphitheater at The Marq at 7 p.m. this Friday to check out the city’s first event in its Masterworks Concert Series, ESCAPE. Formed in 2006, ESCAPE is North Texas’ longest-running Journey tribute band. Its beautiful ballads, rocking tunes and overall good vibes is sure to entertain the masses.
The Lost Paws Rescue of Texas is riding into Southlake this weekend, and they’re bringing some dogs with them! From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Lost Paws Rescue will be in PetSmart at 200 S. Village Center showing off an assortment of cute and cuddly puppies ready to be adopted. Come pet and play with the dogs that will be on-site, and who knows? You might even take one home with you.
Play At The Park will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bicentennial Park on Saturday, August 28. Drop off your child for a day of exciting games and activities. The park features great multi-use trails, open space and a fun playground that you can swing, slide and have fun in! With an assortment of sports fields and courts also available, there’s plenty that you’ll be able to do at Play At The Park.
Do-it-yourself crafts meet random acts of kindness in House of Shine’s Shineworks event. At 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, House of Shine is hosting a fun arts and crafts event where you can create one-of-a-kind items using paper, scissors, tape, glue and much more. When you’re done, share your craft with someone in the community that could use a smile to brighten their day. Tickets are $20.
The Palace Theater is hosting its last movie event of the summer, and you can check it out this Saturday. At 4 p.m., the animated Disney classic “Aladdin” will be playing and features the voice talents of the late Robin Williams. Meanwhile the classic adventure “The Goonies” will pick up shortly after at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6. Come dressed as one of your favorite characters and you’ll receive a small popcorn for free.
