It's finally here: the first week of December. With Southlake shops and retailers busy and bustling with all of the early Christmas shoppers, you and your family may want to slow down for a second and enjoy some of the holiday happenings around the city. If you need a place to start, here are a few family-friendly festive events going on this weekend.
The Theatre of North Texas is getting festive this winter with its first seasonal production of “Christmas Belles.” In this comedic Christmas carol, a church Christmas program spirals out of control thanks to two squabbling sisters, a dysfunctional family and Elvis and Santa impersonators. For $20, you can attend any of their shows at 8 p.m. Friday or Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday at 545 S. Nolen Dr., Suite 250. Come and enjoy listening to these Christmas Belles!
You don’t have to just see Elsa and Olaf on the big screen of their newest movie “Frozen 2” – you can meet them in-person at the Timarron Country Club! Come to the club at 9 a.m. on Saturday at 1400 Byron Nelson Pkwy. and enjoy a fun morning breakfast with this ice queen and her chilly pal. Dance, take photos and enjoy your time with these "Frozen" favorites! Tickets are $12.95 for adults and $10.95 for children.
Kids Christmas Winter Wonderland
Christmas decorating can be kind of tricky, but the good news is you don’t have to do it alone. In fact, you can do it right alongside professional chef Alexis Hernandez. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at 1418 Main St., Sugarboo & Co. will host a special gingerbread decorating class where kids will be able to learn from Food Network finalist Alexis Hernandez herself. Come and decorate all of the gingerbread men, houses and cookies to your heart's desire. Pre-registration is required.
Christmas may be only a few weeks away, but Santa has still got to keep his Christmas weight up for Mrs. Claus! Come to Legends Hall at The Marq at 1 p.m. on Saturday at 285 Shady Oaks Dr. and enjoy some delicious snacks with the Christmas kringle himself, along with an assortment of his elf pals as well. Tickets range from $11-14, and pre-registration is required on Experience Southake’s website. Come and snack with Santa before he boards his sled December 24!
