Kamas Training With Alex Mancillas
Do you want to feel like a warrior and learn how to handle kamas? World Champion Alex Mancillas is coming to Spicar’s Martial Arts to train you on how to become your own kamas master. Students will gather at 5:45 p.m. on Friday at 2120 E. Southlake Blvd., Suite B, and learn the ins and outs of handling the ancient Japanese weapons. Come and bring you’re A-game on as you train to become a champion in the making!
Many kids love Marshall’s fire-fighting prowess on the hit Nickelodeon TV show “PAW Patrol.” Now you’ll get to experience that up close thanks to the Timarron Country Club. Come to the club at 9 a.m. on Saturday at 1400 Byron Nelson Pkwy. and get a tour of one of the Southlake Fire Department engines, with Marshall himself guiding the tour. You’ll have a tail-wagging good time with this Dalmatian around. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children.
Winter Wonderland at Southlake
Want to experience the last winter has to offer before it disappears later in February? Come to the Carpe Diem Private Preschool at 10 a.m. on Saturday at 300 Randol Mill Ave. and experience their own personal Winter Wonderland. Enjoy free sugar cookies, hot cocoa and tour the school as you make your last snow angel or snowman – that is, until next December rolls around. Register online and you’ll love getting to experience the last snowflake in Texas.
Any day is a good day to pick up a Lego brick. But if there was one day that's better than another, it would probably have to be International Lego Day. Bricks and Minifigs will honor the occasion with color and style at their International Lego Day celebration at 10 a.m. on Saturday at 2030 Glade Road, Suite 220. Come and build to your heart’s and imagination’s desire. At Bricks and Minifigs, your only limited by how many Lego bricks are leftover.
It’s simple to sew, and thanks to the Girl Scouts, it’s easier than ever to learn how to do it. The Girl Scouts are hosting a Sewing 101 class at 2 p.m. on Sunday at 584 N. Kimball Ave. Come learn how to needle and thread, loosen a hemline and sew a button back on. If you think you’re skilled enough, you can even help create wraps for baby bats that are being cared for before they’re released back into the wild. You’ll have “sew” much fun!
