Although it’s still six months away from the holidays, that didn’t stop Christmas from coming a little early this year. This weekend kicks off the festivities with Christmas In July. Whether you’re looking to grab a cold one, play in the pool or even learn more about the mysteries of UFOs, there are several events to go to this weekend where you can do all of those things and more.
Lego Santa Claus is coming to town! Participate in several holiday-themed activities as you build Lego Christmas trees, compete in the snowball blitz and even meet the big Lego man himself. If you’re really feeling the Christmas spirit, you can also donate new, unopened Lego sets to the Merlin’s Magic Wand as they get a head-start on their Christmas toy drive. Christmas in July is going on 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. throughout the weekend at the Legoland Discovery Center in the Grapevine Mills Mall. It’s sure to be a bricktastic time.
Rudyard Kipling’s iconic tale leaps from the pages of “The Jungle Book” and comes to life as Mowgli, an abandoned “man-cub” raised by wolves, embarks on an epic adventure with his friends Baloo the bear and Bagheera the black tiger. Join Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera, Kaa, Shere Khan and the rest of the wild animals as the New Hampshire theatre troupe Hamstead Stage company re-enacts the tale at 11 a.m. on Friday on the third floor of Southlake Town Hall Don’t miss it; it’s the perfect precursor before you go and see “The Lion King” remake in theaters!
Plug into one of the most refreshing events of the summer as you bring your pooch and pals over to the 9th annual Pooch Pool Party at the Marshall Grain Company. Dive in with your dog as you chill in one of their pools, enjoy fresh drinks and dog treats and listen to free music courtesy of award-winning singer and songwriter Devin Leigh. The event runs 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday at 3525 William D. Tate Ave. Tickets are $5, and raffle proceeds will go to benefit DFW Pug Rescue.
Hop & Sting One-Year Anniversary Party
The Hop & Sting Taproom and Beer Garden have officially been open for one year in Grapevine, and this Saturday, they’re inviting you to come and celebrate with them. Besides sampling some of their several craft beers, they’ll also have games, live music from three Texas artists and grub from the Oh Balls food truck. Come on out from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday at 906 Jean Street and celebrate with the rest of the Hop & Sting crew.

Author and ufologist Nate Riddle will give a special presentation at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Grapevine Public Library to take a trip through the history of UFOs and where that search has led him. Come and learn all things alien as Riddle takes you through his findings in his book, “Lone Star Saucers: Searching for UFOs in Texas.” Whatever you’re expecting, it’s sure to be an experience that’s out of this world.
