Cupcakes, cookies, coffee, cars and colors are all lighting up Southlake one week before Independence Day next Thursday. With all sorts of patriotic celebrations on the horizon, we thought it might be a good idea to highlight a few other things to do this weekend while you’re waiting for the fireworks to take over the sky on July 4.
The battle for the bakery is on as the Cupcake and Cookie Challenge Camp hits its tipping point this Friday at Taste Buds Kitchen. Watch young bakers team up to make thumbprint cookies, quinoa cupcakes and fruit pizza sugar cookies as they compete head-to-head in an epic bake-off for the ages! Tickets for the cook-off are $60 per person, while T-shirts are $15.
Saturday will be filled with star-spangled sweets as the Taste Buds Kitchen will treat proud Americans to their own cupcakes gleaming in red, white and blue. Teach your kids how to bake their own patriotic cupcakes, topped off with creamy white frosting, red, white and blue sprinkles and an American flag hoisted on the whole thing. Tickets run $28 per child, with one caregiver included.
You’ll go “BAH”-nanas at this adorable Goat Yoga retreat that is going on at 8 a.m. on Saturday at Independence East Park, located at 2419 Lilyfield Drive in Trophy Club. Join all the other yogis, goats and goat-lovers alike as you stretch your muscles in all the right places, all with one of your furry friends stretching right next to you. Tickets are $25 and additional yoga mats are $7.
Equine Guided Women's Empowerment
Bring an open mind and heart at this empowerment event that helps women to overcome any obstacle they may be experiencing with the help of some equestrian partners. Come 9:30 a.m. Saturday at 4200 Hide-A-Way Lane in Flower Mound and experience exercises with the horses on-site to help fulfill you live your life to the fullest. No horse riding experience necessary as all work will be done on the ground. Tickets are $30.
Cars and Coffee comes back to Southlake at 8 a.m. on Saturday for an adrenaline-fueled bonanza that will satisfy car and caffeine lovers alike! This event will feature a new location at Gateway Church at 700 Blessed Way, and proceeds will go towards local and national charities! Don’t miss out on either the hot rods or the hot coffee. Tickets are $10.
