From a couple of movies to two family-friendly festivals, this weekend has a variety of outings for your family to choose from.
On Friday, March 29, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Grapevine Parks and Recreation will be hosting a special needs swim night at The REC of Grapevine. There will be sensory stations for kids to play games like color matching and float or sink. Attendees will also have access to the lazy river, water basketball and the slides. This event, which will also include an adaptive Easter egg hunt from 7 to 8 p.m., is free for REC members and $5 for non-members.
On Friday, March 29, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., the Palace Arts Center in Grapevine will be showing the Disney film "Lady and the Tramp" on the big screen. Tickets for this movie are $6 a person and can be picked up at the theater the night of the movie. There are no previews for this showing so make sure to arrive early.
On Saturday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the city of Bedford will be hosting the Bedford ArtsFest. This event, which is free and pet-friendly, will celebrate a variety of art with artists displaying and selling their work. There will also be many different food trucks for attendees to eat from and they will have a Children's Art Experience that will allow kids to explore different art forms like clay, painting and screen printing.
Kids Movie Saturdays: "Madagascar 3"
Come out to Lava Cantina The Colony on Saturday, March 30, from 1 to 3 p.m. for a free showing of "Madagascar 3" as part of the Kid's Movie Saturdays series. This viewing will include $2 off kids' meals during the movie, and there will be free arts and crafts for children to do. There will be no previews before this movie so it will start promptly at 1 p.m.
If you want to keep the spirit of Celebrate Southlake alive, head out to Klyde Warren Park on Saturday, March 30 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the Festival of Joy. This festival, rooted in Indian culture, celebrates family and friends. It will begin with a parade through the Arts District of downtown Dallas that will start and end at Klyde Warren Park. There will be Indian food to enjoy as well as a variety of music and dance performances. Children can also enjoy face painting, arts and crafts and magic shows.
