We are officially one week away from Halloween. But if sweet treats, devious tricks and walking around from door-to-door late at night doesn’t lift your fall spirits, then not to worry. There are still several family-friendly events to participate in over the weekend.
The Champions Club is organizing a very important experiment this weekend, and your children are the key researchers! Come to the club at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at 285 Shady Oaks Dr. and participate in a fun and exciting science experiment where you’ll get the chance to join in on fun science experiments and games. Tickets at $14 for club members and $18 for non-members.
Everyone enjoys painting on a personalized canvas all your own, but what if that canvas was a pumpkin? From 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at 631 E. Southlake Blvd., kids and adults alike will get the chance to paint a pumpkin they can take home with them! Bring your own pumpkin whether it be real or artificial, and the Art House will take care of the rest. Tickets are $35 each.
All About Animals Meet and Greet
Several wild and hungry creatures will roam the streets and the night come trick or treat next week, but the ones at the Bob Jones Nature Preserve are a lot more friendly and snuggly. Come to the Nature Preserve at 10 a.m. on Saturday at 355 Bob Jones Rd. and meet some of the cutest animals courtesy of the All About Animals nonprofit. Come and get your zoo time in with these wonderful little critters.
The doctor is in the house. From noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday at 140 N. Main St., the British Emporium is hosting the ninth annual Doctor Who Day at their emporium in celebration of the longstanding science-fiction franchise. This free event will have photo opportunities, costume contests, special screenings and giveaways filled with fantastic Whovian prizes. Don’t wait, schedule your appointment with the doctor today.
Halloween At Taste Buds Kitchen
There’s a great time baking over at Taste Buds Kitchen, and its equal part trick and treat! The innovative kitchen is hosting special events all weekend long in anticipation of Halloween. On Saturday morning, for instance, they’ll be baking spooky cupcakes with monsters and spiderwebs, and on Sunday you can either bake a Halloween gingerbread house with your family or compete in a cupcake bake-off. Ticket prices range between $28 and $45.
