Spring break is right around the corner. Regardless of what your plans are, you and your family have a few days left this weekend until the break begins on Monday. Whether you're skipping town or keeping it local, here are a few family-friendly events to look forward to this weekend.
It’s fun to fly a kite, but it’s even more fulfilling when it’s one you made yourself. Come to Nash Farm at 10 a.m. on Friday at 626 Ball St. and learn how to build and fly your own 19th-century kite. You’ll love learning how to construct a kite by yourself and watching it take off from there. Admission is $3.
You don’t have to go under the tent to experience the circus. Come to the Grapevine Public Library at 11 a.m. on Saturday at 1201 Municipal Way for Merry Makers’ Circus Smirkus event. You’ll be blown away by all of the circus performances big and small that will fit into the library, including a monkey riding a unicycle and a juggling clown.
While the best kinds of flowers are freshly cut from the garden, there’s something to be said for flowers that last forever. Come to Market by Macy’s at 3 p.m. on Saturday at 321 State St. and learn how to craft your own origami paper flowers. You’ll love making these flowers that will never wither away.
If you want a magic show that is filled with unbelievable magic tricks and larger-than-life balloon animals, look no further than Wacky Wally’s show. This versatile magician will be at the Gaylord Texan Hotel from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at 1501 Gaylord Trl. to entertain children of all ages. You won’t want to miss this wacky pop-up show.
Have you dreamt of swinging with Spider-Man? Maybe crawling up walls? You can do just that at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Peek n Play in 2805 E. Grapevine Mills Cr., Suite 150. Come and meet the famous wall-crawler, watch him do fun tricks and stunts and have a blast with him all afternoon. After all, with great power comes great fun.
