With huge turnouts for annual celebrations like GrapeFest, SummerBlast and the Butterfly Flutterby, it’s no surprise Grapevine has been recognized as a World Festival & Event City by the International Festival and Events Association.
Around 2 million visitors are expected to attend Grapevine’s 2020 festivals and events this year. So whether you want to enjoy a delicious glass of wine, take in a few fireworks or see Santa’s workshop, here are some important dates to mark down!
The year kicks off in February with the Sweetheart Wine Trail on February 8. The annual event features tastings and food samplings at participating Grapevine wineries, which allows guests to stroll through downtown and take in all of their options. It’s a perfect early Valentine’s Day celebration or a fun activity for a big group of friends.
In March, Grapevine will host the Kiss Me, I’m Irish Express on March 14. This excursion allows locals 21 and up to enjoy complimentary craft brew, Irish-style hors d’oeuvres and desserts. The next weekend the Grapevine Vintage Railroad switches to put on the Jazz Wine Trains on March 20 and 21. This trip, also for those 21 and up, includes live music, wine tastings and tasty treats.
One of the railroad’s most popular events of the year starts in April with Day Out With Thomas. On April 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26, families can take a trip with Thomas the Tank Engine while enjoying storytelling, arts and crafts, videos and much more. April also marks the start of The Grapevine Farmers and Artisans Market, which runs until the end of September at the Town Square Gazebo. Spring Into Nash, on April 18, and Nash Farm Supper, on April 24, gives locals the chance to learn more about one of Grapevine’s most historic destinations.
The beginning of Grapevine’s festival season starts in May with the annual Main Street Fest held from May 15 to 17. This is the 36th year locals will come out to enjoy live entertainment, craft beer, carnival and midway rides, wine pavilions, artisans, festival food and so much more.
On May 22, Grapevine will kick off the new season with its 12th annual SummerBlast, running from May 22 to September 7. The summer will feature family-friendly fun at Gaylord Texan Resort and firework shows every Friday night, promising to keep the whole gang entertained throughout their break.
Right as SummerBlast cools down, the 34th annual GrapeFest picks up. The four-day festival, from September 17 to 20, is the largest wine festival in the Southwest and will celebrate Texas, domestic and international varietals. And with fun activities like the GrapeStomp, the Texas Wine Tribute and the ItalianCarFest happening throughout that weekend, there’s plenty to get excited about.
Grapevine will host five events in October: The Nash Farm Barn Dance on October 16, the 20th annual Fall Round-Up at Nash Farm on October 17, the 23rd annual Butterfly Flutterby on October 17, the HalloWine Trail on October 24 and the Witches Brew Train on October 31. And if you are already looking forward to next year’s holiday season, Grapevine’s Christmas celebrations kick off in mid-November 2020 and stretch into early January 2021.
