Traditionally, Pantone selects one color for the upcoming year that it believes will trend in fashion, graphics and décor. However, this year, it has chosen not one, but two colors. Pantone's Colors of the Year for 2016 are Rose Quartz and Serenity. Joined together, these two colors demonstrate a balance between a cooler, more tranquil blue and the warmer rose tone, creating a soothing sense of order and peace. The pairing of the pastel palette of soft pink Rose Quartz and the pale blue Serenity brings calm and relaxation, which many of us leading busy, stress-filled lives can benefit from.
If you're a fan of one or both of these colors, there are many ways to infuse them into your home this year, beyond just nursery rooms, where these hues have traditionally been most popular. Whether you opt for matte, glossy or metallic finishes, these two pastel colors blend nicely with all styles and work well with most existing color schemes. Believe it or not, pink has become somewhat of a neutral color in a sense, as it allows for color and warmth, and can be paired with other colors. It also doesn't compete with them, but allows them to shine.
You can use Serenity and Rose Quartz together or separately in your home designs. Try them in a bathroom, bedroom, kitchen or really anywhere you want to create a sense of relaxation, order and peace. They can be used as accents to a room with accessories and art, or the inspiration behind a room renovation. Consider infusing these colors with items such as lamps, rugs, pillows, throws, artwork, vases, linens, furniture and more.
While you might not always be able to find the exact shade, you can often find one very similar. To give you an idea of how to subtly incorporate these two colors into your home, I've gathered a variety of items that can be found in some popular Southlake stores.
