Did 2022 leave you with more excess baggage than you'd like? Are you ready and willing to cut ties with your past and clean house — or at least your closet? This year, let’s commit to starting the day off with some positivity, and there’s no better way to do so than with a little pick-me-up while you’re getting dressed each morning. Whether you’re designing your dream walk-in closet or making the most of the one you’re with, here are a few new design elements to consider.
Light It Up
Closets no longer need to be dark and scary places. Let the light shine from a beautiful new chandelier or pendant light. They not only add much-needed visibility, but they also share a bit of your personality. Some lights make a statement behind the scenes. Add some LED strip lights — they’re easy to install and go just about anywhere. Put them under shelves, around mirrors or even along the floor to bathe your closet in light.
Tech Talk
With today’s TVs being so smart, lightweight and thin, they can be hung just about anywhere, so why not the closet? Catch up on the morning news or sports highlights while getting dressed is a great use of time. If a TV is too much, think about adding a smart speaker to remind you of your morning schedule, the weather or just play your favorite morning tunes all by request. When you’re not in a rush, perhaps an inset coffee maker would do the trick.
Warming Trend
Time flies by while having fun dreaming about your new closet. So too do color trends. If you’re making the jump to a new closet, think ahead as whites and grays will not be dominating interior designs for much longer. Warmer color trends that incorporate natural colors and earth tones are back.
