Just because moms choose to take care of their families doesn’t mean we are sacrificing, unhappy individuals. ⠀ ⠀ The other day I overheard someone say moms need to start doing things for themselves and stop making everything about the kids and their spouse. So interesting. I do, yet don’t agree with that thought. Here’s why: ⠀ ⠀ If a mom is happy dedicating her time to her spouse and children, then it is actually about her and she’s occupied in doing something for herself. No one is forcing her to do that. ⠀ ⠀ For me, when I was a stay at home mom, I considered it a privilege to be able to take care of my family and it was a source of happiness for me. When I decided to go back to work, it wasn’t because I didn’t feel fulfilled about my role as a stay at home mom, but because I was at a different stage in my life and my children’s and husband’s needs were different and I was able to do that. At the end of the day, I am still my happiest being home taking care of my family. ⠀ ⠀ As much as I enjoy being an entrepreneur and in business, nothing checks off my happy box like taking care of my family. Now, some don’t have a choice, and that’s understandable however, my point is happiness can mean different things to different people.
