If you and your family are getting stir-crazy from quarantine, there are a lot of great activities you can do without ignoring social distancing. So break out of the house and enjoy the spring weather with one of these hobbies.
Walk Your Dog
The best way to get out of your house for a while is to walk your dog if you have one. This activity is doubly great because both you and your dog can enjoy some time outside of your house while getting exercise. This is also an activity that you can do literally whenever you want — and depending on you and your dog’s energy, multiple times a day. So grab those tennis shoes, the leash and get to stepping.
Camp in the Backyard
If you’re not a fan of traditional camping, this is the next best thing. Camping in the backyard is the best because you still get that sense of adventure without leaving the comfort of your home! From roasting marshmallows to stargazing, camping outside is a great way to have fun with the kids without a ton of effort. Plus, the kids can camp in the backyard while you have some me-time in the house. It’s a win-win!
Play Sports
While live sports have been affected by COVID-19, that doesn’t mean you still can’t play! Whether you have a basketball hoop in the driveway or create makeshift bases in the backyard, playing sports is a great way to get outside. From teaching your kids about sportsmanship to wearing them out, playing sports has tons of benefits — especially now.
Chalk Art For the Win
It may not be the cleanest activity, but chalk art is definitely a fun afternoon activity. It doesn’t matter if you and your kids write messages to healthcare workers or draw flowers and rainbows, doing chalk art is a great way to be creative and be outside. If you want it to be more educational, you can teach your kids about different artists and have them practice cubism or draw something abstract. The limit does not exist!
Grow Your Green Thumb
If you’ve ever thought about having a garden, now is the time to get that started! Staying at home indefinitely means you and your kids can dedicate time to creating your perfect garden — no matter what you decide to grow. From flowers to different fruits and vegetables, a garden is such a great hobby to pick up, and it’s educational too!
Picnic It Up
No matter where you live, food always tastes better when you’re outside. Pack some delicious food, bring the dog and bring a ball or two for an awesome outdoor activity. This fun family activity can provide some quality bonding time — which is needed during this trying time.
