
The State Fair Of Texas
The State Fair of Texas announced their free headlining acts performing on the Chevrolet Main Stage on June 4, which is sure to get lots of locals excited for the annual event. Throughout the state fair’s run, there will be 24 days of concerts included with admission including an array of nationally recognized headliners.
On Friday, September 27 (opening day), the popular ’80s songwriter Rick Springfield will take the stage for a special “Flashback Friday” set. CAMEO, a soul-influenced funk group, will take the stage the next night, Saturday, September 28 at 8:30 p.m. The opening weekend concludes with a performance from the chart-topping Latin band La Maquinaria Norteńa at 5:30 p.m.
The fun continues the next weekend with Hotel California taking the stage on Friday, October 4, at 8:30 p.m. Then, Daughtry will perform hits from his popular music career on Saturday, October 5, at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m. will include a gospel performance from award-winning singer Tye Tribbet.
The third week of the fair will include an assortment of Southern favorites. Austin-based singer-songwriter Bob Schneider will perform on Friday, October 11, at 8:30 p.m. On Saturday, October 12, Big & Rich featuring Cowboy Troy will perform after the Red River Showdown. And on Sunday, October 13, the country music legend Billy Ray Cyrus will perform at 5:30 p.m. Because it is a long weekend with Columbus Day on Monday, October 14, the fair will also host a show the next night with Shane & Shane, a contemporary worship band.
The fair’s musical series’ final acts are Shining Star, a tribute band that will perform Earth, Wind & Fire hits, on Friday, October 18 at 8:30 p.m. And the last concert will be hosted on Sunday, October 20 at 3 p.m. and will feature Gary P. Nunn.
Regional acts will also be featured on the Chevrolet Main Stage throughout the State Fair of Texas run, but they will be announced at a later date. Even though we are a few months out from all these lively acts, we can’t help but get excited.
