North Texas takes the lead amongst the most diverse cities in America, according to a recent WalletHub survey.
Focusing on 501 of the nation's largest cities, WalletHub analyzed metrics across five major diversity categories — socioeconomic, cultural, household, economic and religious diversity. With a score of 72.34, Arlington ranked fifth overall on the list and second in Texas, barely trailing behind Houston's score of 72.37. Dallas landed eighth on the list with a score of 71.79, while Fort Worth placed 22nd on the list with a score of 71.01.
"Diversity creates nearly limitless opportunities to learn from others: what they eat, what they celebrate and what they believe," says Tony Brown, distinguished professor of sociology at Rice University. "You get exposed to new ways of seeing the world."
