A new entertainment venue is set to fill the former Harkins Theatres location by the end of the year.
Established in 2014, EVO Entertainment is an Austin-based company that aims to be the destination spot for all things related to entertainment. With locations in Fredericksburg, Kyle, San Marcos and San Antonio, the business is looking to expand into the Dallas-Fort Worth market, and it wants to establish its first footprint in Southlake.
“There’s no better place to plant a flag and say we’re in DFW than in Southlake,” EVO Entertainment CEO Mitch Roberts says. “It’s a beautiful development, a great community and we couldn’t be more excited to be a part of it.”
Mitch brought the site plan to the Southlake City Council and the planning and zoning commission for consideration during a joint meeting on Tuesday, June 29, which was unanimously approved. According to the site plan, the 68,000-square-foot venue will have seven theater screens dedicated to movie showings. A full restaurant and bar will be included, as well as bowling and arcade games. EVO Entertainment aims to open at 1450 Plaza Place by December.
“It’s really a destination zone,” Chief Development Officer Chris Cline says. “We’re super excited about bringing our concept to Southlake.”
