What Is Relay?
Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature activity. It offers everyone in the community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at the high school and take turns walking around the track. All older teams are encouraged to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relay is an overnight event that takes place for 12 hours with scheduled ceremonies, entertainment, activities, and food to fill the evening hours and early morning.
Teams of people from all walks of life have fun while raising much-needed funds to fight cancer and raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment. No matter who you are, there's a place for you at Relay. To learn more, participate, or form a team at our local American Cancer Society Relay For Life, please visit www.relayforlife.org/southlaketx
Why Do We Relay?
One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer within their lifetime. The money raised at Relay saves lives by funding cutting-edge cancer research, early detection and prevention education, advocacy efforts, and patient services. Your involvement with Relay For Life of Southlake makes this all possible.
Relay allows all individuals an opportunity to celebrate the lives of those who have survived cancer and to remember those that have passed away from this disease. For the newly diagnosed, Relay offers a chance to meet other survivors who have claimed victory over cancer and has often been described as a “healing experience.” For the caregivers who give their time, love, and support to their friends and family who face cancer, it provides hope and understanding. Come join your local survivor celebration today at Relay and participate in this life-changing event!
