Southlake City Councilbrhas a new member for the Place 6 seat. Christopher Archer won with 61 percentbrof the vote in Saturday’s special election, defeating Shauna Newman with 36 percentbrof the vote and Stephen Luhrs with three percent.
“I am verybrexcited at this opportunity and appreciate everyone who supported me throughoutbrthe campaign. I feel that my experience and knowledge gained from serving onbrthe Carroll ISD Board of Trustees will help me as I transition to CitybrCouncil,” Archer says. “I am looking forward to continuing to grow and expandbrthe relationship between the City and CISD, while representing all Southlakebrresidents.”
Archer stepped down from his post asbrschool board president and expects to be sworn in to the Place 6 seat onbrSeptember 19.
“I am sad to leave the CISD SchoolbrBoard, but am thankful to have had the opportunity to serve with my fellowbrTrustees,” he says. “I have learned much from them and wish them the best inbrthe future.”
Some of Archer's top priorities willbrbe to continue the strong relationship between the City and the school districtbrand to work with Mayor Laura Hill and the City Council towards the 2030 Planbrfor Southlake's future. Archer has met with key members of City staff and isbrready to jump into the 2018 budget process.
