The Carroll Speech and Debate team has produced its first-ever national champions.
On June 16, the Carroll Speech and Debate team traveled to Phoenix, Arizona for the National Speech & Debate Association Tournament, which hosted over 1,000 students from three different countries. After five days and 16 rounds of debates, Dragons Anbu Subramanian and Bailey Koh finished first in Public Forum Debate for the tournament. Not only are they the first national champions to emerge from the program — they’re the first national champions from the state of Texas overall.
“We are incredibly proud of our team for bringing home the first national championship in program history,” speech and debate director Anthony Brown says. “Anbu, Bailey and our entire program worked for countless hours, and we are so happy to see all of that hard work pay off.”
