Meet Julie Cox Southlake Carroll English teacher and sponsor for Varsity Cheer. With another winning season in full swing, we spoke with this high-flying member of Dragon Nation to get her take on Texas Tradition.
Julie, we all know tradition is a huge part of Texas football, especially at Southlake Carroll. What is your favorite Dragon Football tradition?
Julie Cox: Varsity Cheer's favorite Dragon Football tradition is painting the run-through signs! Varsity cheer spends an entire week in the summer (over 20 hours) creating the pre-game run-throughs. They do everything from the slogan to the artwork to the painting!
How do you and the cheer team celebrate a victory?
JC: At the close of a victorious game, Varsity Cheer performs a Victory Chant, and the seniors (which make up the majority of our team) partake in the Senior Circle!
How do you show Texas pride on game day?
JC: On game day, the cheerleaders show their Texas pride by tailgating!
