Southlake Carroll’s athletic dominance continues to be recognized. The Dragons have won the 2021-22 MaxPreps Cup.
Given annually by MaxPreps, the cup aims to award the best overall high school sports programs in the country, with points awarded on a weighted basis. Larger states receive more points than smaller states, more popular sports receive more points than less popular sports and larger schools receive more points than smaller schools.
Southlake Carroll earned 1,763 points, putting it well ahead of the second-place finisher, Argyle with 1,240 points. MaxPreps noted the state championships the Dragons won in boys cross-country, boys and girls swimming, girls soccer and baseball while also recognizing the national rankings for several of the Dragon teams.
This award comes after the Dragons also claimed this year’s 6A Lone Star Cup award from the University Interscholastic League.
