The skies above Southlake Town Square will light up in red, white and blue next week.
On Monday, July 3, the city will be hosting its annual Stars & Stripes celebration. Featuring live music, delicious food and its iconic fireworks show, let’s break down everything fans have to look forward to at this year’s Stars & Stripes festival.
1. Bring the family.
Packed with a plethora of family-friendly activities, Stars & Stripes has something for everyone regardless of their age. Play mini golf or jumbo yard games, snap a selfie with stilt walkers roaming around town square and stop by the Patriotic Place for a small shopping spree. The Kids’ Corner is loaded with even more free activities including a cake walk, balloon artists, inflatable games, bubble machines and patriotic crafts.
2. Eat it up.
You can’t have Independence Day celebrations without food, and Stars & Stripes comes stacked with a full lineup of food vendors ready to fill attendees’ appetites. Whether you indulge in Sushi Dojo’s take on tacos and burritos, Fletcher’s Corny Dogs, Kidwell’s BBQ sandwiches or sweet. Snacks from Kona Ice or Pokey O’s, families have no shortage of delicious bites to choose from.
3. Doughnut overdo it.
Parlor Doughnuts is bringing its flaky doughnuts to Stars & Stripes next week. But not only can you enjoy its Maple Bacon, French Toast and Strawberry Shortcake doughnuts — you can also compete in its doughnut-eating contests, which take place at 7 and 7:30 p.m. Winners will receive both a Parlor Doughnuts and a Stars & Stripes T-shirt. Don’t wait, because signup ends at 5 p.m. on Friday!
4. Listen to the music.
Food and family aren’t the only things to look forward to. At 8:05 p.m., the Southlake Community Band will deliver patriotic anthems you can salute to. You can listen to even more fun tunes from the SuperGlide and Inspiration Bands at Frank Edgar Cornish IV Park.
5. Baby, you’re a firework.
At long last, the main event will take place at 9:25 p.m. when the fireworks countdown begins. Bring a blanket or folding chair so you can comfortably enjoy the fireworks when they begin at 9:30 p.m. You’ll be happy you took the time to sit back, relax and watch the skyline over Southlake Town Square light up in the beautiful colors of red, white and blue.
